One Guy's Perspective

June Jam 2011 has come and gone with a good time had by all.  Mowing day was moved up with a Mowing, Cleanup, and Grilling Party on Thursday.  Thanks to all who showed up -- we really knocked her out fast.

Setup, smokin' and roto-tilling the garden, started on Friday night and continued unabated through the night  (Jack we NEED more padding under the carpet in your office) and into Saturday morning.  I arrived on Friday at 4pm with 6 T-Shirts and 3 pair of shorts, sleeping bag and pillows -- ran out of clean T's at 6pm Saturday.

God blessed the day of the event with a wonderful breeze and cloud cover till about 3pm and then sunshine!   I was pelted by 4 raindrops about 11am making for  .0000000000000001" of drought-busting rain.

Special electrical circuits were run to feed the bands' equipment and the tent crew showed up at 10am and they had the tent up about 30 minutes later.  That was quickly followed by members delivering the Jump House and Dunk Tank, then the cases of water bottles, coolers, and a massive ice run.

The ladies arrived and started prepping for the doctored baked beans (MJ we really need to talk about my abandonment issues!) and scalloped potatoes.  The frenzy continued all around till about 4:30pm.  At 5pm the teens arrived and so did our concert goers. There was bouncing in the Bounce House, dunking in the Dunk Tank, beans tossed in baggy thingy's at holes in boards, and bb's punching holes in targets at the Firing Line.  Raffle tickets were sold and then dinner was served.

The concert seemed to kick off 10 minutes early but everyone was ready for it anyway.  Songs were sung, praises were lifted on high and raffle prizes flew out the door awning.  All too soon it was over and a REALLY special thanks to all who stayed for clean up.  I ran out of "go juice" about 8:15pm and headed home to scritch my wife and kiss my dog... wait a minute....

Really everyone,  thanks!  It was great to see and even greater to be allowed to participate.

Same time next year?!

Bob La Pierre -- Elder and Sous Chef
(Hey!  Chris gave me the title and I'm keeping it! {of course he also called his mother "Babe" but that's a story for another day})

PS - A special prayer and blessing will be offered by Steve H., Chris R., and myself for those with the forethought to put showers in our building!    BL
