Great Bend Community Gardens—The
“Garden of Eatin’” is a new collaboration arising from the Healthy Communities
Coalition partnership. To date members of the group include: Bob La Pierre, ACS
Computers & Community Christian Church Elder; Janel Rose Barton, County Health
Department; Donna Krug Barton County Extension, Mary Klinge & Stacy Hefley,
Central Kansas Medical Center; Master Gardeners, Julie Peterson, Diane Feldt,
Connie Roth, and others; and Community Members, Shirley Smith, Jane Knippenberg,
and Sonya Viegra.
Additional members of the Community Christian Church were
involved in the preparation of the garden plot, planting, and building more
tomato cages. Additional community members and groups interested in
collaborating and having possible additional local garden plots are Gina Munz
and Sheryl Lippert, the Great Bend Coop, the Dominican Sisters, and the City of
Great Bend. |
