Working off of several membership suggestions, CCC wants to offer part of our
acreage to a Community Garden Project as an outreach effort. The breadth,
scope, and limitations of the plan are best understood through this Powerpoint
presentation. Please
download this file
and view our current visions of the project.
If you need the Powerpoint viewer for the presentation
download and run this file.

The
Garden of
Eatin’ (by consensus gentium) is a GO! And since it’s late to
start, we got go NOW! We have 4 solid steady volunteers and surely more
will step up to the plate. We have ordered the automated watering
system, will get the hoses and drip irrigation this week, Jack will
break open the 30’ x 30’ spot this week, Dave has offered all the hair
we need for varmint control, Sonya has some varmint oil ideas, we have a
roll of re-mesh to make cages out of, and I own bolt cutters.
If you would like to help raise
vegetables and whatever (I’m NOT a gardener and consider “vegetable” a
nasty word as in “eat your vegetables FIRST!”) then please plan on
coming out and planting this Saturday June 6th at 9am.
Please bring your favorite gardening tools eg: shovel, garden weasel,
spade, post hole digger, cement mixer (hey what do I know), some plants,
etc. No BIG plan just a genuine pot-luck of plantings.
Tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, gourds,
(Jack has asked for no zucchini, but I think we can safely ignore him)
. Someone wondered about sweet corn and hey it’s fine with me
remembering my motto “Let us throw every good
thing against the wall….and see what sticks!” 2 Opinions 3:16.
By-the-way, coming Saturday does not
COMMIT you to a whole summer of labor it just commits you to Saturday,
and surely the kids or grandkids would enjoy the chance to get dirty.
If you can’t, can’t make it on
Saturday, or don’t wanna garden please consider picking up some plants
for us to plant (redundancy?) and just drop them by ACS Computers at
2213 Washington before Friday at 4pm.
Remember the harvest of Garden
of Eatin’ will be going to the food bank, Family Crisis Center,
and/or the Prodigal Ministries.

The Bobcat (and Jack) have been at work
and the ground has been broken open. I'm looking for a Rototiller
to break it up some more Friday or Saturday early. Anybody got a spare
rototiller? |
